Web Search

Today we are excited to launch web search for our file browser agent! We believe that the future file browser isn’t just a place to put files, but a place to actually get work done. In that regard, we think the agent should not just read files, but also find and download files for you, too! Our web search mode closes the loop on this kind of behavior by allowing the agent to automatically make web searches, read results, and identify files or links within its results to download, summarize, or cite. Here’s a look!

Try doing things like asking the agent to find a particular research paper for you, or to find examples of a type of image, or to find relevant youtube videos. When searching the web, the agent will show you its references and give you full transparency on its actions. All in our simple and accessible agent sidebar, or our full-page chat experience.

![This week we take inspiration from the Poetic Web, a more handmade, expressive, and intimate side of the internet coined by artist Chia Amisola. It’s been described as “a practice and process towards a place; where site-making is a political, personal, and poetic act.”

It may seem somewhat antithetical to the generality of how Web Search is done in most LLM tools, but when combined with your files and personal context, we hope this experience of web surfing and downloading can feel personal to you too.

Here’s an archive we curated this week containing some of our favorite sites, resources and projects related to the Poetic Web, browsable as a public folder in Poly: https://poly.app/shared/poetic-web](attachment:c941665f-4a9c-40ff-b165-1b823e214e3b:v0.beta.12.03.jpg)
